612 Scaglietti showcases new atelier service at Geneva

Pride of place on the Ferrari stand at Geneva this year - along with the F2007 that took the 2007 F1 World Championship title - is the 612 Scaglietti which showcases Ferrari's new atelier service, aimed at providing clients with an even greater selection of options in the Carrozzeria Scaglietti range.
The new service will include a special area directly at the factory where 612 Scaglietti clients will be able to examine all the trim options available with a Ferrari expert to hand whilst specifying their car. The result is that every single 612 will be a unique car, and each will be built on a dedicated assembly line.
In line with Ferrari's ethos of constantly developing its models, the car exhibited incorporates a number of technical modifications.
First of these is the vast electrochromic glass roof, a technology first implemented on the Superamerica. The 612 Scaglietti has also adopted the SuperFast gearchange software for changes in as little as 100 ms which, combined with a new low-inertia clutch, improves the engine's response times. The model also receives the manettino-equipped steering wheel in line with the rest of the range.

GranTurismo Breaks Record!

When a car as desirable as the Maserati GranTurismo and the opportunity to make a significant donation to worthy causes collide, then sparks are sure to fly. That’s precisely what happened at the Eighth Annual Naples Winter Wine Festival, in Florida. Maserati North America created a special GranTurismo for the charity auction, the centerpiece of the event – with paintwork in Nero Carbonio and an interior of beige Poltrona Frau leather with elegantly contrasting black stitching, it featured unique door sills inscribed “2008 Naples Winter Wine Festival 2008”.
Like the record-setting Quattroporte provided by Maserati North America last year, the GranTurismo was certain to be one of the star lots of the auction. The car is a full bodied and intoxicating Italian vintage with bodywork styled by the renowned Turin coach-builder Pininfarina, a Ferrari-derived 4.2-liter V8 engine, and hand-crafted interior. And so it proved – the Maserati was eventually sold for a staggering $350,000, a new record at over three times its base price. It played an important part in helping good causes – all money raised from the auction goes directly to children’s charities. For 2008, that meant a huge total of $14 million was donated.

We are glad we are able to make a significant contribution to the Foundation, while sharing our passion with the cognoscenti who attend this world-class festival.”
While the door sills on this GranTurismo cannot be duplicated, every Maserati which leaves the factory can be custom-tailored to be a one-of-a-kind, using the Officine Alfieri Maserati Program. 599 and 430 Scuderia to joing Ferrari Driving Experience fleet

Great news for Ferrari owners! For the first time in North America, the 599 GTB Fiorano and the all-new 430 Scuderia will join the F430 in the 2008 FERRARI DRIVING EXPERIENCE vehicle fleet. Customers of both the BASIC and ADVANCED programs will have the opportunity to experience, enjoy and appreciate these steeds in their natural environment, on the race track and during car control exercises at Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Quebec. The entire fleet, including a 430 Challenge car used in the ADVANCED program, totals 14 cars.
The F430, which has performed impeccably over the first two program seasons, features a light, compact 4.3 liter 90° V8 engine and develops 490 bhp. Like the 599GTB and 430 Scuderia, the F430 sports carbon-ceramic brake discs, which provide superior stopping performance and aerodynamics that generate increased down force and improve cooling. The 599 GTB Fiorano is a 611 hp V12 front-engine berlinetta. Housed in an all-aluminium body shell, the 599 GTB Fiorano boasts a power-weight ratio of under 5.8lbs/hp and scoots to 60mph in 3.7 seconds. The 430 Scuderia, Ferrari’s newest sports berlinetta, is motivated by an 8-cylinder mid-rear mounted engine derived from the F430. Slightly lighter than the F430, with slightly more power, the 430 Scuderia trips the 0-60mph clock at 3.6 seconds. Driving any of these Ferrari cars is a treat. Driving any of them on a track like Mont-Tremblant defies description.

Quattroporte Sport GT S Steals the Show in L.A.

Since its introduction, the Maserati Quattroporte has been praised as a remarkable achievement – combining the space and luxury of a high-end four-door sedan with the performance and handling of a sports car. Now, the latest iteration of the world-class car promises even better handling. Unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Quattroporte Sport GT S represents the most sports-oriented version of a car recently described as “the best-handling sedan I’ve ever driven” by one Motor Trend writer.
The Quattroporte Sport GT S has completely revised suspension, and rides lower than other versions – almost half an inch at the front, an inch at the rear. The aggressive stance this gives the car is enhanced by subtle changes to the exterior, and the 20” wheels are available with a black chrome finish. It was hardly surprising that the Sport GT S was one of the main attractions at the LA show – it was one of the must-see cars, along with the GranTurismo alongside it.
The many visitors to the stand were pleased to see that the interior remained as luxurious and attractive as ever, with fine leather and alcantara. The carbon fiber trim used in the Sport GT S now features thin ribbons of aluminum, just one more example of the attention to detail which goes into every Maserati.
